ranking of parties - for thE 2014 VICTORIAN election
Save the Planet has ranked the parties running in the Victorian 2014 State Election. The rankings are based on publicly available positions on climate change at the time of assessment. Note this is not a how to vote card.
Climate Emergency - acknowledges there is a climate emergency and has policy that calls for a rapid transition to a net negative emission economy in in order to restore a safe climate.
Core Solution – a single issue party focused positively on one specific part of the solutions needed to be implemented to restore a safe cliamte
Other – policy that fails outside of any other categories. Policy may range from policy that is almost climate emergency policy to weak environment policy that can be applied to the issue of human forced global warming.
Going Back Wards - policies and actions are significantly worse for climate than those implemented by the most recent government.
No Policy – no clear climate policy
Undermining - policies and actions taken that have the effect of clearly undermining government and community commitment to a proactive response on climate change
Denial - expression of views that deny or are sceptical on an ill-informed basis about the existence of human-forced climate change.
