About Save the Planet
Save the Planet is an Australian micro party founded in 2012 by a group of climate emergency campaigners in Melbourne. In 2019 Save the Planet joined forces with another climate micro party in order to pool members and become federally registered. Initially this registered party was named 'Save Our One Planet Alliance' but in 2020, the Alliance changed it's name to 'Climate Emergency Action Alliance - Vote Planet' (Vote Planet for short).

Save the Planet has run over 30 candidates in federal, state, and local government elections but as an unregistered party, these candidates always appeared as independents on the ballot. It was two candidates running for council election in Darebin, Vic that helped get the world's first climate emergency declaration by a sitting government.
